Music Theory, Middle C Note, Ledger Line, Treble Clef
Keys
Although a thorough understanding of music theory is not a
prerequisite for playing the piano, it is important to know that studying music theory is not just an academic
exercise. In order to be a successful musician you need to learn music theory - the study of the mechanics and
elements of music. An in-depth knowledge of music theory is essential for any musician, whether you play an
instrument or want to compose your own music. Familiarity with basic music theory will enable you to read and
perform at sight as well as to compose melodies and improvise. Always remember that the concepts you learn are
stepping stones to becoming a professional pianist and learning music theory is not that difficult. The essential
elements of music theory are addressed in my 22 piano lessons. Piano lesson 2 covers the following topics:
Middle C note, Treble clef keys D, E, Ledger line, and a melody for practicing. An initial portion of lesson 2
is displayed below. The complete course includes all 22 piano lessons and covers all basic music fundamentals,
including music theory, piano chords, scales, musical rhythm, musical meter (time signatures), musical
sight-reading, and essential principles of piano technique. For more information and to order the complete piano
